It is possible for virtual smart cards to get locked and effectively block the MyID Provisioner from creating credentials.
When this happens, you will usually see an error message such as “Device Problem: The card cannot be accessed because the wrong PIN was presented”.
To fix this problem, you will need to delete the offending VSC.
To do this, open the Windows Computer Management application and select the Device Manager.
Under ‘Smart Card Readers’ you will see a ‘Virtual Smartcard provisioned by MyID’.
You will need to right click and delete this.
Note that if there is more than one entry, is is very difficult to know which one is the offending VSC.
If you inadvertently delete a different VSC, it will need to be reissued by its owner when they next logon the the computer.
